Purpose of Resource Pack
When Church activities are organised well, with regard to the safety and wellbeing of all, we reduce the risk of avoidable harm to all participants and create spaces of true welcome where relationships which are respectful and enriching can develop.
This Resource Pack is intended for use by Parish Priests, Religious, Safeguarding Representatives and those responsible for organising church activities which involve vulnerable people of all ages. It is expected that Parish Priests and Safeguarding Representatives will promote the Principles and Practicalities outlined in the Resource Pack within parishes and other communities to ensure everyone understands what is expected of them.
Church activities may take place on church premises or in various other environments such as residential events, home visiting or trips out.
The Resource Pack outlines essential requirements and also provides practical guidance on how to organise these activities well with regard to the dignity, safety and wellbeing of all concerned so that avoidable risks are anticipated and minimised and relationships with church representatives are positive, healthy and life affirming.
The Resource Pack is not exhaustive, Parish Priests, Safeguarding Representatives and leaders of groups may recognise that additional safeguards need to be considered for a particular group or activity.
In this event they should seek advice from their Safeguarding Office.
